Eight Medical Equipment To Aid Doctors

Medical professionals have subjected themselves to multiples years of education and training in order to provide quality service to their patients. Doctors, in particular, went through several levels of university and medical school education as well as hands on training in various hospital wards to polish their knowledge and skills. Unfortunately, healthcare providers are not fool-proof people. Instrumentation and medical equipment using high speed backplane connectors are needed by doctors to properly diagnose and monitor the health of their patients. Eight of the commonly used medical equipments that aid doctors nowadays are discussed below.

Ultrasonography. This medical equipment is also called diagnostic sonography and it makes use of ultrasound waves to view internal body parts for possibilities of lesions or injuries. This equipment is best recognized for its use among pregnant women. When the backplane connectors of this equipment are properly placed, imaging of the growing baby inside the mother’s womb is possible.

Magnetic resonance imaging. Another powerful imaging technique used by doctors is MRI. This powerful method employs the emission of radio frequency signal by various tissues and organs of the body when oscillating magnetic field from MRI scanner hits them. Generation of pictures of the heart, lungs, veins and arteries through this method is important in the analysis of disease progress.

Sphygmomanometer. Manual, digital and digital finger sphygmomanometers are some types of this equipment. This is used to monitor the blood pressure of a person. Doctors say that a high blood or low blood pressure is a possible sign of other underlying ailments.

Electroencephalography (EEG). Using electrodes that are pasted on the scalp, voltage signals are sent to neurons of the brain which in return sends a pattern of neural oscillations. This line graph-like pattern is used to diagnose sleep disorders, encephalopathy, tumours and stroke.

Electrocardiography (ECG). This equipment is used to record the electrical signals from the heart. The importance of the image produced from this method, the electrocardiogram, can be used in the diagnosis of myocardial infarction, cardiac diseases and cardiopulmonary dysfunction.

Opthalmoscope. In diagnosing cataract, an opthalmoscope is used to view the internal parts of the eye. This hand-held device produces an image which is used by ophthalmologists to evaluate the health of the eye.

Otoscope. This is another hand-held device which permits a doctor to view into the tymphanic membrane and ear canal. Also, the outer and the middle ear are made visible to the doctor using this equipment. Children aged 5 and below are commonly subjected to this equipment for they are fond of inserting small materials into their ears.

Stethoscope. Dubbed as one of the most recognizable medical equipment of all time, stethoscopes are used to listen to heart beat, movement of the lungs and even the smoothness of blood flow in the arteries and veins. The simplicity of this equipment is relevant in the preliminary assessment by doctors.

The accuracy of medical equipment and the expertise of the medical professional both guide patients on the right healthcare path that they should take. Truly, diagnosis and monitoring of the physiological processes of humans are made easier and more truthful by these medical equipments.
