The first Apple store in Singapore opened on May 27, 2017. A modern-day town square, the first of its kind Apple Orchard Road attracted over 200 customers. Although the 215 billion USD multinational magnate which designs, develops, and sells consumer electronics, computer software, and online services, has dominated the global telecommunication industry for almost a decade now, has chosen to focus its commercial activities in larger Asian markets like China, the recent opening of the Apple store in Singapore opens the floodgates for more Apple products into the City-state.
Apple hardware products include iPhone smartphone, the iPad tablet computer, the Mac personal computer, the iPod portable media player, the Apple Watch smartwatch, and the Apple TV digital media player. As it is, there is already a handful of authorized Apple resellers and retailers in Singapore along with a dozen of other authorized repair service centers particularly for MacBook and iPhone repairs. About 30% of Singaporeans own at least one of these Apple products and the opening of Apple store may actually multiply this figure exponentially in the next few months.
This is likely because of Apple products’ international appeal. Apple products are known for their elegant features but more for their durability. Although many users find numerous inconveniences in software updating, application purchases and other installing issues compared to their android competition, Apple products are still a more preferred brand among class A and B market segments in Asia and in almost the rest of the West.
Apple after sale and other customer services are also impressive but again, the more appealing feature of Apple products is their longevity and relatively simple maintenance demands. Any Apple product can be kept at pristine condition through typical electronic gadgets procedures using soft, lint-free cloth and avoiding abrasive cloths, towels, paper towels, and similar items that might cause damage is an easy way to keep Apple products unspoiled for extended periods. Keeping products away from liquids and avoiding moisture into any openings also preserves the natural life of Apple gadgets. Generally too, there are no special cleaners needed to maintain Apple products in fact, spraying cleaners directly onto Apple items or using aerosol sprays, solvents, or abrasives are discouraged.
The AppleCare Protection Plan or AppleCare+ is also a value ad-on of Apple products since they assure numerous options for clients in terms of repair and over-all maintenance services. These services range from the Express Replacement Service for Apple Watch, iPad, and iPhone where faulty products are immediately replaced with new stock ones; Customer Drop-off option which ships units back to U.S. stores for replacement, for warranty repairs or other repairs covered by AppleCare+ and back to the customer without additional shipping charge and the Do-It-Yourself service where Apples sends customers information and accessories to service his or her own product in case of minor problems.
However, in the event of more serious damage however, there is no do-it-yourself standard procedure. In fact tampering with Apple enclosures only nullifies warranty and other free after-sales services from Apple. The safest option then is to bring the unit into any Apple authorised repair centre. Although the best options to bring it to a certified Apple store, there are smaller service shops that specializes in specific products. In Singapore, there are Apple authorized MacBook service centre specifically for Apple laptop and tablets while there are those that are authorized for Apple iPhones repairs only. These Apple authorized stores, aside from having proper trained staff, are also the ones most likely to access genuine Apple parts in case there is a need for replacements.
